Fantasy Outlook

Johnson was one of the most consistent performers among TEs in 2025, recording at least three catches in 15 of 17 games, including a seven-game streak of outings with at least four catches spanning Weeks 10 through 17. He was effective catching passes from both Spencer Rattler and 2025 second-round pick Tyler Shough, the latter of whom took over as the Saints' starting QB in Week 9 and will start for the team in 2026. Johnson posted top-five finishes at his position in both catches (77) and receiving yards (889), but he ranked outside the top 20 TEs with just eight red-zone targets and scored only three TDs. That lack of opportunities in scoring range was surprising considering the 6-foot-4 TE averaged 4.5 TDs over the previous four campaigns despite recording no more than 548 receiving yards in a season during that stretch. New Orleans' offense looked more competent with Shough under center, and Johnson should once again offer a steady floor of catches and yards, with a path to improvement if he gets more involved in the red zone and holds off new backups Noah Fant and Oscar Delp for targets. Chris Olave remains the No. 1 option in New Orleans' passing game, and Johnson will have more competition for targets due to the addition of rookie eighth overall pick Jordyn Tyson at WR.
