Lance is an anomaly in the NIL era, having stuck with FCS North Dakota State for five years even though his 2024 breakout (60-837-13) afforded other opportunities at the end. Some of that may have to do with his older brother, Trey, who was just 20 years old when the 49ers took him third overall in the 2021 NFL Draft. Bryce, by contrast, will turn 24 before Week 1 of his rookie season. He's also dealing with an especially large jump in competition, perhaps negating the usual advantages of being an older prospect (while still having all the disadvantages). The good news? Lance shined at the 2026 Combine with a 4.34 40, 41.5-inch vertical and 133-inch broad jump, at 6-foot-4, 204. It was enough to land him with New Orleans in the fourth round, 136th overall, just two days after the team drafted WR Jordyn Tyson at No. 8. Lance likely will have to work his way up the depth chart, starting off behind Tyson, Chris Olave and Devaughn Vele, at the very least.
