Pippen's 2025-26 season was pretty much a write-off, as he missed 72 regular-season games due to a toe injury that he underwent surgery for in March. It remains to be seen whether he'll be fully healthy for the start of training camp, but Pippen will have the opportunity to be the Grizzlies' floor general for 2026-27 after Ja Morant was traded to the Trail Blazers, with Ty Jerome and Cam Spencer being the main competitors for backcourt minutes. Pippen's starting numbers in 2024-25 gives a glance of what he may produce in the upcoming season; in 21 games as a starter that season, he recorded four double-doubles and a triple-double and averaged 14.2 points, 5.7 assists, 4.5 rebounds, 1.7 steals and 1.7 threes over 26.8 minutes per game while connecting on 52.6 percent of his field-goal attempts.
