Knueppel surprised many during his rookie season, ending as the 65th-ranked player in nine-category leagues. He averaged 18.5 points, 5.3 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 3.4 three-pointers in 31.5 minutes per contest, starting in 80 of his 81 games played. So impressive was his season that he was firmly in the discussion for Rookie of the Year honors right up until the end of the season. However, despite finishing as a sixth-round asset, Knueppel was a positive contributor in just three categories, those being points, threes and free throw percentage. He offered very little on the defensive end of the floor, something he will need to add to his game, should he hope to push inside the top 40. Despite the fact that LaMelo Ball and Miles Bridges are no longer on the roster, Charlotte added Grayson Allen, Royce O'Neale, Naz Reid, Hannes Steinbach and Christian Anderson. Knueppel will almost certainly retain his starting spot, but will have to compete for minutes with Allen. Managers are likely going to have to target him in the fifth or sixth rounds, which could end up eliminating a lot of his potential value, should he fail to make any significant steps forward.
