Wagler made significant noise at Illinois in the 2025-26 season en route to being selected with the fifth overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft. The shooting guard earned Big Ten Freshman of the Year and Jerry West Award honors while leading the Fighting Illini to the Final Four, averaging 17.9 points, 5.1 rebounds, 4.2 assists, 2.4 triples and 0.9 steals across 33.9 minutes per game in 37 outings. The 19-year-old shot an efficient 39.7 percent from beyond the arc and should remain a strong option on the perimeter for Los Angeles with Darius Garland operating as the team's starting point guard. However, Wagler's defensive production will likely need to improve for him to make a significant impact in category-based leagues, especially if he struggles with efficiency while acclimating to NBA-level defenders early in his career. Additionally, players such as Bradley Beal, Kris Dunn, Kobe Sanders and Gradey Dick could all challenge Wagler for minutes. Still, he carries long-term upside that makes him extremely valuable in dynasty drafts, and he could see increased shot volume early in the campaign with Brandon Ingram sidelined by a partially torn Achilles, making Wagler a viable late-round flier in redraft leagues.
