The 2025-26 season was basically a waste of time for Morant, playing just 20 games due to multiple injuries, as well as perceived tension within the organization regarding his long-term future. When he was available, Morant averaged 19.5 points, 3.3 rebounds, 8.1 assists, 1.0 steals and 1.0 three-pointers. It would seem as though the perceived tension was right on the money after Morant was traded to Portland during the offseason. Here, he will compete for minutes with players like Damian Lillard, Jrue Holiday and Scoot Henderson. At this point, it would appear as though Morant will start alongside Lillard, who himself is coming off a significant injury that cost him the entire 2025-26 season. As for Morant, the move to Portland provides him with an opportunity to change the narrative surrounding him. While his on-court production has always been adequate, his off-court behaviour has been less than ideal. In previous seasons, it has been commonplace for Morant to be over-drafted, with managers often overlooking the fact that his game does not translate well into fantasy. Perhaps all of the risk factors will work in his favor this season, allowing him to be somewhat overlooked by managers. If you are intent on landing him, the seventh or eighth round feels like his projected range.
