2026 Fantasy Outlook
A 30-year-old journeyman who has suited up for five different teams in eight NFL seasons, not counting two different stints with the 49ers, McNichols is coming off perhaps his most productive campaign. With the Commanders' backfield lacking a clear top option in 2025, the 2017 fifth-round pick played all 17 regular-season games for the second straight year and parlayed 69 touches into a career-best 417 scrimmage yards, fueled by a stunning 5.0 yards per carry. McNichols has proven to be a good fit for the offensive scheme under Kliff Kingsbury, averaging an impressive 3.2 yards per carry after contact over the last two years, and new coordinator David Blough is an internal hire who likely won't change things up too much. The Commanders added free agent Rachaad White and sixth-round pick Kaytron Allen this offseason to a backfield headed by second-year player Jacory Croskey-Merritt, but McNichols' combination of three-down skills, burst and between-the-tackles power could still wind up in the mix.
