Maybe breakout isn't the proper term for Cashman's 2025 season given that he had already proven himself as a strong contributor, but he certainly displayed new skills while taking a huge statistical leap. Cashman had never been used more in run defense than pass defense until 2025, and he excelled in the new role while posting 144 tackles in 13 games. He posted a minuscule 6.1 percent missed tackle rate in run defense, eighth lowest among 49 linebackers who logged at least 249 run-defense snaps. With that shift, Cashman has now shown the ability to excel in all aspects of a defensive scheme, so he should be locked into a near every-down role even if he reverts to working more regularly in coverage. The only thing that looks capable of slowing Cashman is injury, as he has failed to play in more than 14 games in any of the last three seasons.
