After his Rookie of the Year campaign, Castle seized the reins of a loaded Spurs backcourt and took a significant leap as a sophomore. He averaged 16.6 points, 7.4 assists, 5.3 rebounds, 1.1 steals and 1.2 threes over 30.0 minutes per contest while shooting a much-improved 47.1 percent from the field across 68 regular-season games. More importantly, he was the primary ball-handler for a juggernaut, as San Antonio went 62-20 and stunned Oklahoma City in the Western Conference Finals, with Castle upping his scoring to 18.2 points per game in the playoffs. He also cemented his reputation as one of the league's premier perimeter defenders, narrowly missing an All-Defensive Team spot in a tight vote with Dyson Daniels. The only flaw is the one that followed him out of UConn, with Castle shooting just 33.2 percent from three and 73.4 percent from the line, which can drag his category-league value and let defenses sag off him. However, everything else about the profile screams ascending star. Castle is only 21 years old entering Year 3, entrenched as the floor general next to Victor Wembanyama on a perennial contender and his assist volume alone anchors his fantasy value. Dylan Harper's inevitable breakout would likely impact De'Aaron Fox's bottom line before Castle's, and if the jumper takes even a modest step forward, Castle could be a first-round talent. Until then, he belongs in the fourth-round conversation in points leagues, where his assists and scoring volume play up, and the fifth round in category formats, where his percentages and modest three-point production still need seasoning.
