Barnes has been a starter for most of his career, but last year marked a change in the tide. Everyone saw how much San Antonio developed, and it forced Barnes into a bench role for the first time in his career. That's expected to be the case once again, with the veteran inking a one-year, $8 million deal in the offseason. What's scary for Barnes is that he's seen his minutes dip in six straight seasons, playing 25.8 minutes per game last year. That's his lowest total since his rookie season, with Barnes averaging 10 points, 2.8 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 0.6 steals per game. Almost all of those were career-lows, and it's clear which way this career is trending. That's simply the brutal nature of the NBA, and Barnes is clearly happy to be a bench veteran for this contender. It might actually be tough for Barnes to crack 20 minutes this year after San Antonio signed Tobias Harris. If there's one thing the Spurs can lean on with Barnes, it's his health. He's played at least 66 games in 13 of 14 seasons while playing at least 77 games in 10 of those. That's an ironman in today's NBA, which is one of many reasons why this veteran is valuable despite the dip in playing time and production.
