Mitchell emerged as a key rotational piece for the Thunder last season after averaging 16.6 minutes per game during his rookie year in 2024-25. He started in six consecutive playoff games against the Suns and Lakers while Jalen Williams was sidelined, and Mitchell rose to the occasion by averaging 21.2 points, 5.3 assists, 3.7 rebounds, 1.2 steals and 1.5 threes over 31.2 minutes per contest. Williams figures to be fully healthy for the upcoming season, and most of the Thunder's production will come from him, Chet Holmgren and two-time MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. However, Mitchell should operate in an expanded role -- either as a backcourt starter beside SGA or off the bench -- following the departures of Aaron Wiggins, Isaiah Joe and Luguentz Dort.
