Watson entered the 2025 season with a realistic chance to secure a rotational role in Houston's pass-catching corps, but a calf injury ultimately limited him to three regular-season games in which he totaled three grabs for 30 yards on four targets. While he remains under contract for 2026, Watson now faces significant competition for a role behind No. 1 WR Nico Collins, with all of Jayden Higgins, Tank Dell, Xavier Hutchinson and Jaylin Noel presumably solidified ahead of him on the depth chart. The 30-year-old Watson has scarcely worked in the return game, which impacts his odds of making the final roster.
