While scouts didn't spot any standout traits in Demercado in college, he's proven to be hard to bring down in the NFL, averaging 3.0 yards per carry after contact during his career, a mark that would have ranked among the 2025 league leaders like De'Von Achane if he'd seen enough volume to qualify. Injuries have been an issue for Demercado, as he has yet to play more than 14 regular-season games in a season, but he's displayed a versatile three-down skill set and some serious big-play ability as he has five career carries of 40 yards or more. The Chiefs signed him this offseason to compete for a backup role, but they then waived Demercado at the end of August, which set him up to land in Dallas as potential depth behind Javonte Williams.
