Fantasy Outlook

Nix finished QB7 in fantasy last season, mostly driven by volume as he led the league with 669 dropbacks and 612 attempts. Nearly 71 percent of his passes went less than 10 yards downfield (5th most), but despite all the short throws, his completion rate was only 63.4 percent (24th), and he finished 28th in YPA (6.4). All those dropbacks led to 35 scrambles (10th), which helped his rushing totals, but relying on volume over efficiency is not usually a sustainable fantasy path. That said, Nix was also QB7 in 2024, and there's no question coach Sean Payton's short-passing game served Drew Brees well in his later New Orleans years. Perhaps Jaylen Waddle, for whom the Broncos traded a first-round pick, can help Nix stretch the field despite his average arm strength. Waddle and Courtland Sutton form a rock-solid WR duo, with Troy Franklin, Pat Bryant and Marvin Mims competing for the No. 3 role and providing strong depth. Nix is expected to be healthy for Week 1 after breaking an ankle in the divisional playoffs, but his progress needs to be closely monitored, as even minor physical limitations would be worrisome for a QB whose fantasy value has relied on taking a huge number of dropbacks.
