Toppin appeared poised to take on a bigger workload before undergoing surgery on his right foot due to a stress fracture just three games into the 2025-26 campaign, an injury that sidelined him for much of the season. In 24 appearances (three starts), the 2020 first-round pick averaged 11.6 points, 4.4 rebounds and 2.3 assists while shooting 50.3 percent from the field and 35.2 percent from beyond the arc. Across six seasons between New York and Indiana, Toppin has averaged 8.7 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.3 assists while shooting 52.1 percent from the field and 35.5 percent from three-point range. The 28-year-old's volume from deep has steadily ticked up, as he attempted a career-high 4.4 triples per game and converted 1.5 threes per contest last year. Toppin was already blocked at power forward by Pascal Siakam, but the addition of Kelly Oubre via free agency and the continued development of Jarace Walker also threaten his playing time. Toppin has proven his ability to be a solid role player, but as the Pacers' roster is currently constructed, there simply might not be an opportunity for him to step into an expanded role. As such, Toppin is likely to remain a valuable reserve piece for Indiana but not an overly compelling fantasy option on a regular basis.
