Sheppard was a late first-round pick in the 2023 NBA Draft and has carved out a decent role in Indiana since then. This winger continues to improve and carved out a career-high 21.4 minutes per game last season. That career-high playing time led to Sheppard averaging 7.1 points, 3.0 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 0.6 steals per game. The main issue is that this might be Sheppard's ceiling. The Pacers are expected to get Tyrese Haliburton back this season, while Kelly Oubre was signed in the offseason. Oubre plays the same position as Sheppard, and he'll surely play at least 20 minutes a night. That doesn't even include guys like Jarace Walker, Aaron Nesmith and Obi Toppin at the wing positions. Sheppard had a nice opportunity last year when the Pacers were out of it, but this is a different team now. There's no doubt Indiana trusts him to play in their system, but there are too many cooks in the kitchen for Sheppard to surpass 20 minutes. All of that makes Sheppard a tough sell in fantasy drafts, despite being a valuable real-life player for the Pacers.
