Fears played a sizable role out of the gate during his rookie season, moving into the starting lineup after only two games. However, he shifted to the bench in late January, where he remained until the final few games of the season. Despite the unexpected opportunity, Fears finished outside the top 200 in nine-category leagues, averaging 14.3 points, 3.7 rebounds, 3.4 assists, 1.2 steals and 1.2 three-pointers in 25.8 minutes per game. Although New Orleans has made very few changes during the offseason, Fears is likely to come off the bench, with Dejounte Murray now fully healthy. Jordan Poole is also still in the discussion for playing time, although based on last season, it's hard to get a read on where he fits, given he was out of the rotation altogether at stages last season. Fears will provide the Pelicans with an offensive sparkplug off the bench, making him at least a stream-level player. The fact that he doesn't offer much outside of scoring limits his overall value, and so drafting him is probably not necessary.
