With Tyrese Haliburton sidelined by an Achilles injury, Mathurin entered the starting lineup and came out of the gate hot in 2025-26, dropping 36 and 26 points in the first two outings of the season. However, he proceeded to miss the next 11 games with a sprained toe. The swingman returned to the starting lineup after the extended absence and put together some strong performances, though he wasn't very consistent and struggled with efficiency from the field before missing another few weeks due to a thumb injury. He returned to action in late January and appeared in just four more games off the bench for Indiana before being traded to the Clippers, with whom he averaged 17.4 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.0 steals across 28.0 minutes per game in 26 regular-season games (one start). A restricted free agent this past summer, the 24-year-old signed a two-year, $16 million deal with the Pelicans in August, which includes a player option for the second year. While he figures to operate off the bench behind Trey Murphy and Saddiq Bey, Mathurin may continue to provide a scoring punch from the second unit and is a strong target in the late rounds of points league drafts.
