A third-round pick last year, Johnson failed to make much of a splash in Pittsburgh's backfield. He didn't get more than six carries in any of his 10 appearances, and his 2.5 yards per carry didn't make a compelling case for more work. The Steelers traded him in late August to the Packers, where he will compete with Chris Brooks to back up new starter MarShawn Lloyd. Josh Jacobs was placed on the Commissioner's Exempt List and it is uncertain how long he will be out. Johnson likely will be worked into some sort of backfield rotation behind Lloyd, who has struggled to stay healthy during his two years in the league. That puts Johnson one injury away from a much bigger role.
