Brooks played all 17 regular-season games for the Packers in 2025, but there wasn't much else that stood out for the BYU product in his third NFL campaign. His 3.9 yards per carry were a career low, coming on just 27 totes, and he splits his time almost equally between offense and special teams. Despite good size and a strong athletic profile, Brooks lacks the burst to hit holes quickly and struggled to gain yards after contact last year, though he did better in that area his first two seasons in the league. Josh Jacobs was placed on the Commissioner's Exempt List in late August, making MarShawn Lloyd the new starter. Brooks will compete with Kaleb Johnson, for whom the Packers traded in late August, to back up Lloyd. Brooks has the inside track on the No. 2 job simply due to his familiarity with Matt LaFleur's scheme, and if the injury-prone Lloyd doesn't stay healthy again, Brooks could have an even bigger role.
