Williams followed up his 2024 breakout with a 2025 campaign that featured nearly identical receiving numbers, except over 17 regular-season games instead of 15. He even had the same marks for catch rate (63.7 percent) and yards per target (11.0) in both seasons, with week-to-week inconsistency proving no obstacle to season-long consistency. It's easy to forget that Williams averaged just 4.8 targets over his first nine games of 2025, before spiking to 7.4 targets per game in the wake of TE Sam LaPorta's season-ending injury. LaPorta had six more targets than Williams (49 to 43) at the time of that injury, with Amon-Ra St. Brown (82) nearly doubling Williams' total. Meanwhile, Detroit's offense declined from elite in 2024 to merely good in 2025, with the offensive line in particular taking a big step back. Blocking could be an issue again, but with RB David Montgomery out of the picture, it looks like the offense will consolidate even more around St. Brown, Williams, LaPorta and Jahmyr Gibbs, with young wideout Isaac TeSlaa perhaps a dark horse to play spoiler and take a chunk out of Williams' usage.
