Playing on a one-year, fully-guaranteed $1.81 million deal, Pacheco will likely have some notable role in the 2026 Lions offense. He's still likely a downgrade from the previous Detroit RB2, however -- David Montgomery was overqualified as the backup to Jahmyr Gibbs, whereas Pacheco is probably correctly slotted as a backup at this point. Pacheco's crazy motor and otherwise standout combination of raw power and speed didn't show up often enough in the box score in Kansas City, the washed-up version of Kareem Hunt slowly prying away the RB1 role with the Chiefs over the last two years. Pacheco's intense running style also opens him up to injury more than most, so he isn't especially reliable in any regard. Availability and consistency are both ongoing questions for the former Rutgers standout, though Pacheco would prove a good Montgomery replacement if he can somehow recapture the form he showed in his first two NFL seasons before the harsh decline since.
