Fantasy Outlook
Young finally developed into a competent quarterback last season, leading the Panthers to the playoffs and nearly knocking off the Rams in the wild-card round. For fantasy, though, it made him only a low-end QB2 (19th in QB fantasy points). He significantly improved his on-target and completion percentages, but it was mostly because he exchanged deep throws for shorter ones. His average target depth dropped from 8.7 to 6.9 yards (30th) and only 7.1 percent attempts traveled 20-plus yards (31st). As a result, his YPA was unchanged from the previous year (6.3, 30th) and he barely topped 3,000 passing yards (21st) despite 478 attempts (14th). It wasn't all his fault, though. Young only had one reliable receiver in rookie Tetairoa McMillan, who had nearly three times the targets and yards of the team's next leading receiver. The Panthers added third-round pick Chris Brazzell, a 6-foot-4 wideout with 4.37 speed who could help Young stretch the field.
