Johnson was one of the NBA's most productive rookies in 2025-26. He appeared in 60 regular-season games, averaging 12.2 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.0 assists over 24.1 minutes. While the 20-year-old started 42 regular-season games, his statistical contributions weren't much different overall. Johnson is expected to hold a prominent role in the rotation, mostly off the bench, though it remains to be seen just how productive he can be in his second season. Some believe the 2025 No. 6 overall pick is on the verge of an even better season, while others feel he won't be as productive, especially playing alongside Trae Young (quadriceps), Anthony Davis (finger), Alex Sarr (foot) and 2026 No. 1 overall pick AJ Dybantsa. Granted, Young, Davis and Sarr haven't exactly been the healthiest throughout their careers, and Dybantsa is an unproven rookie, meaning the door is open for Johnson to carry momentum into the 2026-27 campaign.
