Poeltl's 2025-26 season was disrupted by a lower-back injury, limiting him to 46 appearances and 44 starts. He averaged 10.7 points, 7.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 0.9 steals and 0.7 blocks in 25.0 minutes per game while shooting an exceptional 70.0 percent from the field. Despite the shortened campaign, Poeltl remains Toronto's projected starting center entering 2026-27 and is under contract through 2029-30 after signing a four-year, $104 million extension in 2025. His fantasy strengths are well established: elite field-goal percentage, solid rebounding and useful assists for a traditional center, though his reduced block production and poor free-throw shooting lower his overall ceiling. The larger concern is durability after the back issue cost him significant time last season. If healthy, Poeltl should retain a stable workload and can provide standard-league value as a later-round center, but managers shouldn't expect a return to the career-best production he delivered in 2024-25 without an increase in minutes. He's a strong mid-to-late-round option, but the persistent availability issues might have some risks.
