Fantasy Outlook

After six mostly disappointing seasons in Miami, Tagovailoa signed a one-year deal with the Falcons in March. He'll likely be the Week 1 starter as Michael Penix is coming off an ACL injury. Tua, of course, has injury issues of his own, most notably concussions. In part to mitigate injury, Tagovailoa limited his deep throws the last couple years, ranking 31st in average target depth last season (6.7 yards) as just 7.3 percent of his attempts went 20-plus yards (30th). Maybe new Falcons coach Kevin Stefanski can get Tua to stretch the field again behind a good offensive line. He'll have a couple top-quality targets in Drake London and Kyle Pitts, but not much more, though perhaps rookie slot receiver Zachariah Branch, a third-round pick, will offer more than free-agent additions Jahan Dotson and Olamide Zaccheaus. The Falcons likely will be run heavy anyway with Bijan Robinson. Tua is an injury liability, doesn't add rushing production and at some point will have to hold off a healthy Penix. That doesn't leave much room for upside.
