The Jaguars made an enormous investment in Hunter and didn't get much out of it in Year 1. He looked capable at cornerback, but played just 162 defensive snaps in seven games. On offense, he played exactly twice as many snaps, 46.3 per game, mostly seeing screens and other quick targets (to little effect) over the first few weeks. He got a few downfield shots as the season progressed, producing five gains of 20-plus yards in Weeks 4-7, only to suffer a season-ending LCL tear in practice. The Jaguars then traded for and extended Jakobi Meyers, who was an upgrade on Hunter, yet eventually played second fiddle to Parker Washington at the end of the season. Even Brian Thomas looked better as the year went on, albeit in a lower-volume role after flopping as the WR1. Various reports suggest Hunter will play more cornerback in 2026 than he did as a rookie, but Jacksonville brass hasn't commented on specifics, simply maintaining their stance that he'll be used on both sides of the ball.
