Peterson, the second overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft, is coming off an impressive campaign as a freshman under head coach Bill Self at Kansas, where he averaged 20.2 points, 4.2 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 1.4 steals and 0.6 blocks in 29.0 minutes per contest. He appeared in only 24 games due to multiple injuries and cramping-related issues, though the 19-year-old is healthy ahead of the 2026-27 campaign. The rookie shooting guard should step into a sizable role immediately, though it's unclear if he'll start for the Jazz right away. Although Peterson's offensive ceiling is undeniable, he faces competition for usage early in his career. The Jazz have Lauri Markkanen, Keyonte George, Jaren Jackson and Ace Bailey to compete with Peterson for touches, and while that core could help him further develop as a playmaker, Peterson isn't guaranteed high-level usage early. Still, his upside remains incredibly high, so it wouldn't be shocking to see the Kansas product finish atop his draft class in Rookie of the Year voting. He shot 38.2 percent from beyond the arc during his lone collegiate campaign and could see the three-point volume to make an impact in category leagues, though shooting the rock efficiently on a consistent basis may prove challenging for the rookie on a revamped Utah roster. He's a more viable pick in points leagues, where he figures to be drafted in the mid-to-late rounds, whereas he could slip into the double-digit rounds in category leagues.
