Instead of moving on to greener pastures, Kupp will move on to cold, rainy ones and hope the infamous Seattle weather isn't too harsh on his achy joints. The Rams released him in March, after a third straight season missing five or more games, with the Seahawks then swooping in quickly to give him a three-year, $45 million contract that includes $17.5 million guaranteed at signing (but only an injury guarantee beyond 2025). It's an odd fit, weather aside, as Kupp's skill set overlaps with that of Jaxon Smith-Njigba, who broke out for a 100-1,130-6 receiving line last year. A 32-year-old Kupp is probably better than a 32-year-old Tyler Lockett, but space may be hard to come by with two possession receivers working the field together (and not having support from DK Metcalf, who was traded to Pittsburgh). The Seahawks may have something specific in mind, with Kupp and new QB Sam Darnold clearly a big part of that under new offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak, but the volume ceiling we've been chasing since Kupp's legendary 2021 campaign no longer exists, and even something like eight targets per game probably would depend on Smith-Njigba missing a bunch of time.
