Patrick Mahomes on Kenneth Walker’s game wrecking ability 🗣️ “I think I knew in training camp, not even the plays he made on the field, but the mentality he had day end and day out, you just know sometimes with guys and how they compete—that’s when I really knew he was going to take off but I don’t think anyone knew it would be like this.” Via @TheFan965

Full breakdown of #Chiefs Vice President of Sports Medicine and Performance Rick Burkholder’s press conference today regarding Josh Simmons 🗣️ August 17th Josh reported “calf discomfort” on the same leg he had knee surgery on in college. Confirmed and diagnosed with “bulging herniated disc” in his lumbar spine. Disc problem was higher up than normal which “complicated the case” Josh and his agent selected a spine specialist upon request from the Chiefs to get a 2nd opinion. The recommendation from the specialist was rehabilitation not surgery. Josh “worked his tail off” with the Chiefs staff and improved to the point where he returned to practice in a limited capacity. The Chiefs feel like he has plateaued in the rehab process. It was decided and agreed upon everybody (Josh, his people, his agent, Rick, Andy and Veach) that he should be placed on IR. Surgery is not recommended.

Patrick Mahomes on Jalen Hurts via @TheFan965 “It’s extremely scary—for someone like that, that doesn’t miss football games, doesn’t get injured to have something where a blood clot that gets into the lungs that can be life threatening, it puts it into perspective—-at the end of the day we’re human beings and we have families that we want to be there for, for a long time.”

Patrick Mahomes on his connection with Travis Kelce 🗣️ “It started in training camp that first year I was starting. After every series he would ask me what I was seeing, why I wanted to throw it here, through those conversations I started understanding what he was seeing—now he’s able to do a lot of freelancing in the offense because we are on the same page.”
