“Video: Bucs receivers coach Kevin Garver talks about Chris Godwin and how he could be involved in the slot as well as outside this season. https://t.co/vyiFac3Gxu”

LeipoldNFL 6 years ago

You're welcome.

ddmadman 6 years ago

I disagree with Ridley and golladay

LeipoldNFL 6 years ago

Ridley is the one I wouldn't, but there are probably ~10 after Godwin I would take over him. The expectations are now at the point where you lose all upside because you're drafting him near his peak.

ddmadman 6 years ago

yeah I agree that it’s getting to a point where there is more risk than reward but I think he deserves to be in the spot that he is

ddmadman 6 years ago

they will be a very pass heavy offense

LeipoldNFL 6 years ago

You say that like not everyone knows it

LeipoldNFL 6 years ago

That's accounted for

ddmadman 6 years ago

so what is wrong with Godwin

LeipoldNFL 6 years ago

Mahomes threw 580 passes last year so let's use that. Jameis completes 61.6% for his career = 357 completions. Mike Evans had 22.4% target share last year so Godwin will almost surely be below ~80 catches (which was about where Evans was last year). 80 would put him T-21st last year

LeipoldNFL 6 years ago

So if he's going to be below 21st in volume most likely.... we're drafting him at A) his ceiling or B) hoping for extreme efficiency or C) hoping for random TD luck

LeipoldNFL 6 years ago

And none of this is hard

LeipoldNFL 6 years ago

I shouldn't have to do this math for you

ddmadman 6 years ago

but last year he finished rank 27 and now 2 of the main weapons on the offense are gone and the system this year will be better than last year so how will he be less efficient or not have way more targets

ddmadman 6 years ago

or is that only worth 5 spots

LeipoldNFL 6 years ago

When a WR goes down, targets don't just re-allocate in the same distribution to the next guy up.

ddmadman 6 years ago

there are less weapons now so he will be more involved

ddmadman 6 years ago

is that not true

LeipoldNFL 6 years ago

You're oversimplifying it.

LeipoldNFL 6 years ago

Same reason Tyler Boyd isn't a WR1 when AJ Green gets hurt applies here. Or Sterling Shepard when OBJ was hurt.

LeipoldNFL 6 years ago

You can't just fill the void with the next man up.

ddmadman 6 years ago

Evans isn’t hurt

LeipoldNFL 6 years ago

Not referring to Evans. Referring to ASH+DJ leaving.

ddmadman 6 years ago

brown and juju were both top 10 last year there can be 2 heavily involved receivers on the same offense

LeipoldNFL 6 years ago

Sure, when the QB throws a record number of passes and there is no WR3 and hardly a TE of consequence.
