Been waiting for a Mariners World Series appearance since 1989, trying to trade all my best baseball (and football) cards to my neighbor Scott for the rare '89 Ken Griffey Jr. Upper Deck Rookie Card. No dice haha...
I was at both pivitol 1995 "Refuse To Lose" games with my Dad and kid sister (dad took out of school) who was 9 and I was 19: the 1 game playoff vs. the then California Angels, Big Unit pitching in the Loud AF Kingdome...and the Game 5 ALDS vs. Yankees: Edgar Martinez 11th inning base hit sending home Joey Cora & Ken Griffey Jr for the victory with Ken's huge smile on the bottom homeplate dog pile for the Seattle Times & Bremerton Sun frontpage papers I still have copies of.
The great Dodgers are my adopted NL fave team as a L.A. resident since '98, been to many games for sure over the years...but also made sure to see the M's at Anaheim Angels games too since I've lived in L.A...
The Mariners are my heart, my childhood team no matter all the years of struggles with brief success in '95 '97, '01, and '22...at least one of my fave teams finally got back to postseason success, Raiders need to right that One Eyed Willie Pirate Ship stuck in a cave for 25 years.
*Good thing is the Mariners have a Top 5 Farm System, tons of great prospects in the pipeline to trade for FA's or join Julio & Big Dumper and the homegrown starting pitching (who didn't have the best ALCS) and bullpen. They will get more cracks at finally reaching maybe winning a WS.
