Who would run a 8 teamer with standard starting positions. You definitely need to increase the starting spots and bench spots. Min of 11 starters plus 8 bench. That’s 152 drafted players. A 10 teamer has 160 with standard 10 starters/6 bench. That leaves the waiver wire pretty similar and active. There’s a challenge picking up waiver players that will help your team. Plus with 10 or 8 teams in your league you are then watching players that actually put up points instead of praying a Wr4 is going to get a miracle target. Way more fun and can be just as competitive.

The ideal amount of bench spots in an 8 man league is 0 because ideally you’d be in a 12 man league

A 12 team league doesn't automatically make it more competitive. The league owners determine the competitiveness of hte league. An 8 man league with an active waiver wire and owners that know what they are doing is just as competitive as a 12 man league. People that think only 12 team leagues are the way to go are living in a box and need to step outside once in awhile.2SprinkleStick• over 6 yr ago

Anyway for an actual answer, I'd wager 7 spots would be good for a 8 man league, you'll be able to get some waiver wire depth but the pool of real studs will be super important when being the WR17 overall actually means you're a WR3 in the league1greatnorthdrew• over 6 yr ago
