Cardinals OC Nathaniel Hackett just had a Freudian slip implying James Conner is currently the starting RB. Jereimyah Love will almost certainly be leading this backfield by the end of the season if not sooner, but Conner may see more work than many were expecting, especially early on. While the Cardinals have a crowded backfield, Conner is the only one with starting experience and they may lean on him early while Love gets comfortable at the NFL level. Conner agreed to restructure his contract with the Cardinals this offseason so it’s unlikely he gets cuts before the season and will have a role on this offense. Your best bet is to hope for solid early production from Conner and trade him early before the inevitable Love takeover happens.
