Thornton showed it in regular season games last season (when they were supposed to have Royals come in & help during Rices suspension but he was hurt, hes built like Rice & grts good YAC like Rice) .... Allen making a few catches at camp (when receivers KNOW defenders arent coming in full speed to light them up) doesnt put him above Thornton lol
Even putting aside talent Thornton (& Royals) has been in the system for a year + now. That gives them a huge leg up on Allen from the jump. Reid doesnt play rookie WRs a ton unless they are first rd picks or injuries forces him too bc it takes them a while to grasp the system. Reid even held back Rice & Tyreek as rookies.
And with Rice -
- their WR room was GARBAGE (MVS/Justin Watson/Sky Moore/& CantGetRight himself..... Kadarious Toney lol)
- he was a 2nd rd pick not a 5th
- he tore it up all camp & preseason
- when he got on the field during the season his advanced stats were through the roof
Yet STILL Reid held down his snaps. Then he finally starts consistently getting around 70%+ snaps & boom ..... wks 12-17 he was a top 5 WR. Then he broke Jamar Chases playoff rookie WR total catch record helping the Chiefs get their most recent SB win. Then he started off the '24 season on a 160+ Target/130+ catches/1,600+ yards/10+ TDs pace (👀🤯) up till Mahomes accidently dove into Rices knee. Reid held THAT guy back 👀.
Reid made Tyreek mainly a kick returner for a lot of his rookie year (8 games he had 30 or less receiving yards, first 6 games he avgd 20 YPG & the first 8 games he avgd 29 ..... then year 2 he put up almost 80 per game lol)
They resigned Thornton to fill the void that Hollywood leaving left. Thornton will get most of ot with Allen getting a little bit. Thornton/Allen/& Hollywood are all 180-185 lbs. Rice is 205 & Royals is around 200.

WR3 with Xavier "Dr Glass" Worthy in front of him and a 76 year old TE. there's a chance (almost realistic) he's closer to target than by mid season

Not sure who’s writing these… but need to find a new career. Thornton was the best deep threat KC had last year. Earning trust with Mahomes. Solid flex option
