TIPS/TRICKS - Getting into a dynasty start up league - PPR - Superflex, TE premium 1.5ppr.... any help or suggestions on how to prep for such a draft? First time in a dynasty/superflex/te prem league so its a whole new world.

jimmikmik 4 days ago

@DontTakeTheRUFies what’s the TEP? If it’s only like .5ppr more than standard then I wouldn’t give it any weight at all really. If it’s your first SF league, then be sure to account for the value in QB. QB is the most important position in that format

@jimmikmik TE is 1.5ppr - its a PPR league I forgot to disclose that

jimmikmik 4 days ago

Also, don’t devalue future rookie picks. First time me and my friends got into a league we were all trading our future firsts like they were nothing. Some classes are much more valuable than others, but in general I almost never like trading away my own future firsts

But everyone else gets 1 point ppr right?

HotRopeAllstars 4 days ago

I say trade the future first if your team looks good and can compete. BUT! Collect future firsts from those willing to give them away as well. Moving back 5 or 7 spots and gaining a first is killer. Then use it later in the draft as you see how the teams are developing to get the players you really want.

I have won this format a couple times in paid leagues. Get one top QB then focus on WR. RB is easier to replace in season. Don’t value TE any more than in a non TEP. Maybe use it as a tie breaker in a decision but QB and WR will get you more points on average.

The point of owning your own future first is having a good insurance policy essentially. You can look like the title favorite and trade away next years first, suddenly you get hit with a couple major injuries and core competitive pieces like Ekeler can become washed overnight and you find yourself as a bottom 3 team just by bad luck. If you don’t even have your first you’re screwed as being able to add a top 3 rookie pick would be key in helping you retool

If you’re coming up to a trade deadline however and you’re locked in for the playoffs and you know it’s a late first and you just need something else to bolster your title push, that’s a different story. I NEVER want to trade my firsts far out

In Dynasty I have to sayings I love. The first I created the second I was told to me. 1. You gotta trade to get paid. The more trading the better. Even if you end up losing a trade here or there (by circumstance I.e. injury trade, draft replacement etc.) keep trading. 2. Win now and later. Trading studs for other studs lower in the same tier and adding draft capital is great. Gives you more weapons to trade etc. (Keep trading) some guys are cool and some guys are dicks. But remember even the guys that are dicks come around sometimes so keep shooting offers. If someone gets offended by an offer wait awhile and then touch base and send another.

And totally agree with @Timultuous . RB is by far the least important position. You can solve that almost any year in a rookie draft, or can acquire great old vets for very cheap. They’re extremely replaceable outside the unicorns like CMC. QB and WR (young and elite) is the key to sustained success

@DontTakeTheRUFies also very important to not use trade calculators as a bible. KeepTradeCut and some other sites are fantastic resources despite the amount of people that shit on them. They’re a great guide, but not end all be all by any means whatsoever. Use trade calcs and rankings like that to just get a rough idea of consensus values and rankings and fine tune your own rankings yourself

My point is, things can fall apart quickly. Something weird happens to your team and those two firsts can turn into a 1.05 and 1.01

HotRopeAllstars 4 days ago

I won last year, and it’s true I could slide alittle from year to year but I always prefer to be competing than playing it safe.

HotRopeAllstars 4 days ago

You don’t fall from 1.12 to 1.01 or 1.05 if your active and trading alot

HotRopeAllstars 4 days ago

The guys getting the 1.01 are trying to get the 1.01

Nope

Team in my main league won the championship in 2022, aquired CMC for last season and missed playoffs

Shit happens

Agree with most that’s been said. Cept I will say that RB is the position you can gain the most from in a single season setting. At least at the top end, if you deemphasize the position, it’s correct, they can be patched in at RB2 and below. The reason people deemphasize them is because in dynasty you have to account for injurability and longevity, and RBs are both the most injury prone and have the shortest shelf life on the average. Just know that the top RBs will bring the most bang for your buck of any position. As for draft picks, I think I sorta agree with jimmi, mainly in that I don’t throw away my firsts willy-nilly. Specifically your own first, you have the most control over. I’ll move them for the right deal, but owning your own pick allows you to better reap benefits if you need to pivot midseason into rebuild mode

It’s because injuries happen

Dude got decimated

jimmikmik 4 days ago

It happens. And he had traded his future picks to keep competing and now looks like he’s in for a tough rebuild

A440 4 days ago

But I usually have more than just my first anyways

Would anyone take Jalen Hurts #1 in Superflex Dynasty? He’s about to turn only 26 and still has a lot of weapons to play with on offense

10 T SF, start 9, .5 TEP A. JJ B. ETN, Rice, Flowers, Odunze Obviously, depth with the package. In start 9, is JJ too valuable to take a 6-8 point hit no matter which one of the 3 I put in his place
