“So now, barring an unexpected trade, the #Chargers say Melvin Gordon can play for $5.605 million or not play at all https://t.co/ibxORCSDK5”
But either way thanks fourman for your insight
Just curious what other backs in the nfl make around 5.6 mil
Do I keep darwin thompson since shady got signed?
I would play it safe and not draft Melvin and draft 3 other backs. I would take my risk with AJ Green as a value pick.
@ChrisPartlow https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/27342231/why-compare-ezekiel-elliott-melvin-gordon-holdouts-leveon-bells%3fplatform=amp
I have Melvin Gordon, Josh Gordon, Shady McCoy, AJ Green and Golden Tate. It’s been interesting so far. lol
That's what I'm saying. Leveon was, in my opinion correct to sit out. He honored his contract and deserved to be rewarded. Melvin and Zeke who are still on contract are just throwing temper tantrum because they feel entitled to more. Similar to what my kids do when they feel entitled to 2 ice pops instead of the 1 ice pop I am offering
@ChrisPartlow we are in agreement about that part temper tantrum wise. I just think they both will be back sooner rather than later this season. Money talks and bullshit walks.
What if he knows his knee is done though and he's trying to pull a fast one? Not necessarily rooting for the NFL just being honest
What if he knows 6 Vicodin shots isn't what his doctor ordered for a lifelong prognosis
@ChrisPartlow I also think Bell was wise to sit out and could afford to as well. I don’t think Melvin at least will be willing to do that long term.
For melvin, only if he is willing to admit (by playing for the 5.6) he was wrong to hold out in the first place. I dont see his ego allowing him to do that
@ChrisPartlow you could be right
Everyone's worried about week 1 not the ramifications of week 1 reality
Aka what if we're all wrong and he's the only one that knows it
More likely he holds out until week 10, allowing him to save face, and accrue his full season. Next year someone will pay him the same 10m the chargers were offering. And he will take it
Im really hoping Todd Gurley looks good as ever week 1
Not trying to posture here just saying it is very possible
@ChrisPartlow I hope you’re wrong and he’s back by week 4. Hell they have any easy schedule the first 5 weeks and at worst should be 4-1. If they lose 2 of the first 3 games, I think the $10 mill this season will be back on the table.
So Melvin isn’t at risk of losing face or saving face. His agent and the Chargers are in disagreement. Once Melvin and his agent test the waters and see what’s out there, they can easily reverse course. Melvin will just say I was trusting the business people
It’s nowhere near personal for the GM or Gordon
Why in the world would he be back by week 4 the way this is going? Serious question
He has more leverage the longer the season progresses
That's interesting @wintheweek. If he can spin it someway, maybe there would be hope. But would his people allow him to play for 5.6 and likely be run into the ground this season, lessening his value for next year?
