“The #Saints have reported and WR Michael Thomas has not arrived at the facility, sources tell me and @MikeGarafolo. He’s seeking a new deal and the two sides are not there yet. Until they get there, he’ll stay away.”

kvnklly 6 years ago

@Hellmutt i believe if you play 1 MLB game you get benefits for life. Why would those guys stick it out for so long in the minors with such a shit pay if they would have to play half a season

kvnklly 6 years ago

Also if this is over a 1 mil difference then this is a joke of a holdout. Just fuckin pay the man. Hes a top 5 wr in the league

Rywin 6 years ago

For perspective: - Michael Thomas, $1.14M -- 2018 stats: 125 catches for 1,405 yards, 9 TDs - Odell Beckham Jr., $18M -- 77 catches for 1,052, 6 TDs - Antonio Brown, $16.7M -- 2018: 104 catches for 1,297, 15 TDs - Mike Evans, $16.5M -- 2018: 86 catches for 1,524, 8 TDs PAY THAT MAN!

Pay the man! He is actually some who is grossly underpaid!!!

Hellmutt 6 years ago

@kvnklly pretty good money in minor league ball, once you've established yourself, or high upside young players. As for the health insurance pension, I googled that.

becauseFootBall 6 years ago

Is everybody playing LeVeon now..? Just remember is cost him 14 million $ and any shot at a Super Bowl

Hellmutt 6 years ago

Not the norm but....Outfielder Rusney Castillo has been an enigma for the Red Sox since then-general manager Ben Cherington signed him in 2014 out of Cuba to a seven-year, $72.5 million contract. Castillo, 30, has played just 99 Major League games, none since 2016.

Playing ball beats doing just about any other job, that's why guys stay in the minors for a journeyman's pay.

JamieH17 6 years ago

Not worried about Thomas. The Saints already made a statement about how they're comfortable making him the highest payed player in the league and I'm sure they aren't worried about him missing camp. The deal will get done.

JamieH17 6 years ago

I should say they reportedly said that. It's not a direct quote from a team official but here: https://syndication.bleacherreport.com/amp/2841672-report-saints-comfortable-making-michael-thomas-highest-paid-wr-on-new-contract.amp.html

JamieH17 6 years ago

And there's this report about them offering him $18-19 million/year and he reportedly wants $20 million/year so the sides are close: https://www.thescore.com/nfl/news/1801244

Well part of this I agree with you but the other part you’re wrong. He’s worth every penny, is he being greedy yes but he’s not alone. I hate to say it but this is what the NFL has turned into. It’s very sad to know that these guys go from being poor to making more money in one game then most people make in two years and they act this way. I do agree with you on that all day, but worth it, 100% positively is worth it. If we lose him breeze just a soon retires

LouisiAnimals1 6 years ago

I also am positively 100% sure he is the most aggressive and has the biggest killer instinct of any receiver in the league not naming a Jarvis Landry. He is a guy that we do not wanna lose. He is gritty and unstoppable for the most part. Breeze has a lot to do with this but without this guy breeze doesn’t have long enough to find someone else like him, the Saints are in a win now mode for the next three years and then it may be over as far as Drew Brees

AboutTreeFiddy 6 years ago

u think michael thomas is worth 22million dollars @LouisiAnimals1 ?

AboutTreeFiddy 6 years ago

did u not see the 2018 stats i posted yesterday?

LouisiAnimals1 6 years ago

It’s not that I think he’s worth that much money, because this is what they will pay him he’s worth being paid at the top of the list. I agree with you, I think these guys shouldn’t make more than 10 million a year. But it is what it is and if everyone else is going to make this kind of money, he should be at the top of the list to make it as well.

LouisiAnimals1 6 years ago

Did you know he was a second-year receiver and he has posted multiple records that no other receiver has ever done in their first multiple years

AboutTreeFiddy 6 years ago

he was still one of the most inconsistent top wrs last year....by asking for this money hes actually hurting his teams superbowl chances the next few years bc it means that wont be able to pay other, more important team pieces
