This week's list of "buy low" players to target for fantasy trades and "sell high" options to consider dealing away.

Now that we’re headed into Week 4 of the fantasy football season, we have an even more sufficient set of data to analyze. Certain players have emerged as interesting trade targets, while we feel more comfortable selling others. And as your fantasy season starts to take shape – maybe you’re 3-0 and already going for the jugular, or perhaps you’re 0-3 and reaching desperation mode – trades may be the most impactful way of reworking your squad.

Each week during the season, Sleeper will take a data-driven approach to identify the best buy-low and sell-high candidates around the NFL while explaining why these players are intriguing trade options. Let’s get into the players you should either target or try offloading entering Week 4.

Buy-Low Targets

RB Bucky Irving, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

This is likely the lowest Irving’s value will be for the remainder of the season, as the fourth-round rookie is trending toward taking the Buccaneers’ starting running back job from Rachaad White. Irving has been super explosive and made the most of every touch he’s received through three weeks. He’s also blowing White’s numbers out of the water, particularly from an efficiency standpoint.

Irving has rushed for 154 yards on 25 carries (6.2 yards per attempt), while White has totaled 66 yards on 31 carries (2.1 yards per attempt). In the Bucs’ shocking Week 3 loss to the Denver Broncos, Irving was the lone bright spot on offense for Tampa Bay, finishing with nine carries for 62 yards (6.9 yards per attempt), while White had 15 carries for just 31 yards (2.1 yards per attempt). Irving played more than White in the second half and out-carried and out-touched him in the game. Don't be surprised if we see more of a role reversal and a bigger workload for the rookie.

RB Nick Chubb, Cleveland Browns

There are quite a few teams in need of RB help. Maybe you drafted Christian McCaffrey or Isiah Pacheco (who are both out injured), or perhaps you put your faith in D’Andre Swift or White (who have both struggled mightily). Regardless of the circumstances, if you need a running back and can afford to wait it out a little bit longer, consider making an offer for Chubb, particularly if the fantasy manager who has him is near the bottom of the league standings.

Chubb started the season on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list, meaning he has to miss the first four games of the season. It’s likely he doesn’t return as soon as he’s eligible for Week 5, but his late-season upside makes him worth stashing nevertheless. Neither Jerome Ford nor D’Onta Foreman has looked great in Chubb’s absence, and that means Chubb could be in line to receive a regular workload in the second half of the season once he’s ready and shakes off the rust.

Chubb was a top running back prior to tearing his ACL in Week 2 last season, recording four consecutive 1,000-yard rushing seasons between 2019-22 (and 42 TDs total over that span). It can’t hurt to check in with the manager who drafted Chubb – or Carolina rookie RB Jonathon Brooks for that matter, who is also eligible to return Week 5 – to see if their patience is running thin. If they are looking for more of a win-now piece, you may be able to land one of these potential studs before their value spikes upon their return.

(As of writing, Chubb is also still available in 14% of Sleeper leagues. If yours falls into that category, go ahead and add him ASAP.)

Sell-High Options

RB Chuba Hubbard, Carolina Panthers

Hubbard rushed for 114 yards on 21 carries while adding five catches for 55 yards and a TD in the Panthers’ 36-22 win over the Raiders. Andy Dalton has replaced Bryce Young under center, so now there's nothing to worry about when it comes to Hubbard and the Carolina offense as a whole … right?!

Well, it’s not that simple. It’s worth noting that the Raiders’ defense was banged up, but perhaps the bigger issue is that Hubbard could be just a placeholder who will only be his team’s starter as long as Brooks is sidelined.

Brooks entered the season on the PUP/Non-Football Injury (NFI) list after tearing his ACL in college, meaning he had to miss the first four games. The Panthers made Brooks the first running back selected in the 2024 NFL Draft (No. 46 overall, second round), so you’d expect that they’re going to use him once he's healthy.

It remains to be seen whether Brooks will return in Week 5 or shortly after, but you should try to sell Chubbard now while some fantasy manager in your league views him as a long-term solution after seeing him get 26 touches and 169 total yards in a game that featured a rare favorable game script.

WR Jauan Jennings, San Francisco 49ers

With Deebo Samuel, George Kittle and McCaffrey all sidelined due to injuries on Sunday, everyone expected Brandon Aiyuk to be Brock Purdy’s favorite target against the Rams. Instead, it was Jennings who dominated in Week 3, finishing with 11 catches (on 12 targets) for 175 yards and three touchdowns – all of which were career-high totals.

This game screams sell-high, especially since Jennings only has peak fantasy value while the 49ers’ other weapons are out with their respective injuries. But even if Samuel, Kittle and McCaffrey are sidelined for several more weeks, it seems very unlikely that Jennings will be able to duplicate that kind of performance. If you can sell him for a young, high-upside player who could actually help you in the second half of the fantasy season (like, say, Ladd McConkey or Keon Coleman), do it.

Hit the Trade Market

Trade values can change rapidly, so pounce on these opportunities while you can. Proactive dealing can often make the difference for your squad, and the window to acquire these players may close quickly.
