Our data-driven approach to identify the best buy-low and sell-high candidates around the NFL heading into Week 8.

While there are no NFL teams on bye in Week 8, we're approaching the brutal part of the schedule when a ton of teams will be on break.

Week 10: 4 teams on bye (Browns, Packers, Raiders, Seahawks)

Week 11: 4 teams on bye (Cardinals, Panthers, Giants, Buccaneers)

Week 12: 6 teams on bye (Falcons, Bills, Bengals, Jaguars, Saints, Jets)

Week 14: 6 teams on bye (Ravens, Broncos, Texans, Colts, Patriots, Commanders)

As the season progresses, your fantasy team’s depth becomes more important than ever, and so is your ability to improve your roster. With so many fantasy managers scrambling to find replacements for injured players and bye-week absences and trade deadlines across leagues starting to creep up, it’s the perfect time to send out some trade offers.

Each week during the season, Sleeper takes a data-driven approach to identify the best buy-low and sell-high candidates around the NFL while explaining why these players are intriguing options. So which players should you target and offload entering Week 8? Let’s take a look.

Buy-Low Targets

WR Jaylen Waddle, Miami Dolphins

Waddle is currently the WR62 in PPR leagues, and he’s averaging just 8.3 PPR points per game. He’s averaging fewer PPR points per game than Denver Broncos undrafted WR Devaughn Vele. It has been a really tough start for Waddle, who has finished as the WR91, WR47, WR57 and WR60 over his last four games.

Both Waddle and Tyreek Hill have been invisible since Tua Tagovailoa suffered the concussion that sidelined him in Week 2. Fortunately, Tagovailoa is expected to return in Week 8, so Miami’s offense should return to form.

Waddle is a super talented receiver and dangerous deep threat who has struggled because he’s been catching passes from Tyler Huntley, Skylar Thompson and Tim Boyle. After Sunday’s one-reception, 11-yard performance, it can’t hurt to see whether you can snatch him up while his value is at an all-time low right before Tua comes back.

WR Malik Nabers, New York Giants

After missing Weeks 5 and 6 due to a concussion, Nabers returned on Sunday to face the Eagles and had his worst game of the season. The No. 6 overall pick finished with just four receptions for 41 yards.

If the Nabers owner in your league is frustrated about the last three weeks, try to swoop in and acquire the up-and-coming superstar. Last week notwithstanding, the Giants’ offense revolves around Nabers, as evidenced by his 12 targets per game — the most of any player in the NFL who has played at least five games. Even after his WR42 finish in Week 7, Nabers is still the WR3 on the season in points per game, averaging 19.9 in PPR.

The rookie phenom will be fine going forward, and this might be your last chance to acquire him at a somewhat discounted price.

Sell-High Targets

RB Kareem Hunt, Kansas City Chiefs

If you added Hunt off of waivers after he was signed by the Chiefs a few weeks ago, you're probably feeling really good about that decision. He has been a workhorse for Kansas City, and he’s playing really well.

Since rejoining the Chiefs in Week 4, Hunt has been the RB9, averaging 17.2 PPR points per game. The 29-year-old has made the most of his opportunity, rushing 63 times for 249 yards and three touchdowns while adding five receptions for 36 yards.

However, we know that Hunt isn’t going to remain in this role for very long, as Isiah Pacheco’s return looms, as does Clyde Edwards-Helaire’s reintegration to a suddenly crowded backfield. Pacheco suffered a fractured fibula in Week 2, but the six-to-eight-week timeline that was reported for his recovery means that his potential return may not be all that far away.

Hunt may only have a few more weeks in this workhorse role before his fantasy relevance takes a dip (aside from being a solid handcuff to Pacheco). Moving him now while Pacheco’s return date is still up in the air is your best bet.

If someone in your league wants to overpay for Hunt based on his name recognition and the fact that he has the third-most carries (63) in the NFL over the last month, let them!

RB Javonte Williams, Denver Broncos

Williams was fantastic in the Broncos’ 33-10 win over the New Orleans Saints on Thursday. He rushed 14 times for 88 yards (6.3 yards per attempt) and two touchdowns while also catching three passes for 23 yards. Williams finished as the RB5 on the week in PPR scoring.

This was his best game of the season, but his performance had more to do with the Saints’ poor tackling and brutal run defense than Williams’ skill set. After all, the Saints allow the fourth-most rushing yards per game (146.7) and fourth-most rushing touchdowns per game, and they have the fifth-most missed tackles (307) this season.

Just one week before Williams’ performance, New Orleans got torched for 277 yards on the ground by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, led by Sean Tucker (14 carries for 136 yards and a touchdown) and Bucky Irving (14-81-1).

Prior to this game, Williams averaged 2.7 yards per carry across the first six weeks of the season, so this performance is definitely the outlier. Williams deserves credit for taking advantage of a weak matchup and leading Denver to the convincing win. It’s certainly possible he will follow this up with another solid game in Week 8 against the Carolina Panthers, who are allowing the most rushing yards per game (162.1) and most rushing touchdowns (13 total, nearly two per game) of any team in the league. However, after that, he faces two of the best run defenses in the NFL in Baltimore and Kansas City. His mini hot streak should come to an end rather quickly.

The window to sell Williams at his peak is this week and next week.
