If your dynasty team is aiming to win in 2024, trade for these value picks at each position this fantasy season.

Successful dynasty fantasy football rosters are primarily built through young players, but it’s important to have several solid veterans on your squad when contending windows are open.

Read on, as we identify a veteran to trade for at each position (QB, RB, WR, TE) to help you and your win-now dynasty aspirations.

Quarterback: Dak Prescott, Cowboys

Prescott finished second in the MVP voting last year, and he recently turned 31. He likely has at least another five strong seasons left in him, and he’s perennially underrated in dynasty.

Prescott is the QB15 (35th overall) via Sleeper’s superflex/2-QB dynasty ADP, yet his recent fantasy finishes tell a far different story. The past five seasons, Prescott has played at least 12 games four times, and in those four seasons, his fantasy-points-per-game finishes have been QB3 (2019), QB9 (‘21), QB13 (‘22) and QB4 (‘23). Prescott was actually the QB1 in fantasy points per game during his injury-shortened ‘20 campaign.

He’s the cheapest dynasty QB that consistently delivers fantasy QB1-type years, and for the upcoming season, Sleeper currently projects 4,110 passing yards (fifth) and 31 passing touchdowns (fourth) – a QB8 finish in fantasy points per game.

Suggested Trade: Receive Prescott, trade away Jared Goff

For full stat projections on each player, you can go to the Fantasy Football Research MINI within the Sleeper App. You can also find that player’s ADP in the same tool.  For Dynasty ADP that matches those referenced within the article, make sure the “Dynasty” filter is toggled on, along with the “2QB” filter.

Running Back: Joe Mixon, Texans

Outside of a select few RBs like Breece Hall, Bijan Robinson and Jahmyr Gibbs, dynasty managers should view the position through a one- to two-year window. When looking at the veteran RB market, it’s important to look at players’ contracts, their history of production, their current depth chart and their overall offensive environment.

Mixon, after being traded to Houston, was immediately signed to a three-year contract, with two guaranteed years. The past four years, Mixon has been a fantasy RB1 in PPR points per game, with at least 18 touches per game in each season. Mixon’s primary competition for touches is Dameon Pierce, who flopped with his opportunity to break out last season. The cherry on top? C.J. Stroud is coming off one of the best rookie QB seasons in NFL history and stewards a potent offense.

That all adds up to a decent opportunity for Mixon, as Sleeper projects 227 carries, 38 receptions, 1,168 total yards and seven touchdowns. Those numbers would slot Mixon one fantasy point per game outside of fantasy RB1 status.

Mixon goes as the RB18 in dynasty startups on Sleeper with a superflex/2-QB ADP of 80.

Suggested Trade: Receive Mixon, trade away D’Andre Swift

Wide Receiver: Diontae Johnson, Panthers

Johnson was the WR8 in PPR fantasy points per game in 2021, and dynasty managers were fighting to trade for the 26-year-old target machine. That didn’t go so well. The next season, Johnson set the record for the most targets without scoring a touchdown at 147. Then, he dealt with a serious hamstring injury last year. In each of the past two seasons, Johnson also suffered from poor QB play at the hands of Kenny Pickett, who is now an Eagles backup.

So what, exactly, makes Johnson, now 28, an attractive target? For the upcoming season, he will be catching passes from Bryce Young in a revamped Panthers offense. Adam Thielen, at 33, was force-fed 103 receptions from Young last year, and Johnson’s ability to win early in his routes is a perfect match for what the Panthers want to do: get the ball out of Young’s hands quickly.

Sleeper conservatively projects 78 receptions and 817 receiving yards for Johnson in 2024, though Thielen’s ‘23 campaign is well within Johnson’s range of outcomes. Johnson still likely has two or three more prime seasons remaining in his career, with high-end fantasy WR2 upside.

Yet, Johnson's Sleeper ADP for superflex/2-QB dynasty startups is 120th overall (WR49). Someone who was once overrated now represents solid, win-now value.

Suggested Trade: Receive Johnson, trade away Adonai Mitchell

Tight End: Evan Engram, Jaguars

The Evan Engram Experience has primarily been rooted in frustration, injuries and underachievement. After 722 yards and six touchdowns as a rookie in 2017, the next half decade featured no usable fantasy seasons. Last year, Engram’s second in Jacksonville, he fully broke out, leading all tight ends with 114 receptions, while finishing third with 963 receiving yards. Engram finished as the TE4 in PPR fantasy points per game, though, as he only scored four touchdowns.

The Jaguars have Engram locked up for at least two more seasons, and the touchdown upside will actually be there for him in 2024. Calvin Ridley is now on the Titans, and he leaves the third-most red zone targets in the NFL last season (26) behind. Sleeper projects 73 receptions (fifth) and 705 yards (10th) for Engram this season, though there’s a good chance he surpasses those numbers if he stays healthy.

Engram’s dynasty startup ADP on Sleeper is 94th overall (TE12) in superflex/2-QB formats, but two or three mid-to-high-end fantasy TE1 seasons are still within reach for the rest of his career.

Suggested Trade: Receive Engram, trade away Cole Kmet
