Gay's status for Week 1 against the Texans is firmly in question after he underwent a procedure to address a sports hernia following the team's final preseason game Aug. 22. The team still hasn't elevated Spencer Shrader from their practice squad, but if Gay is unable to suit up, he is the likeliest option to handle kicking duties for the Colts on Sunday.
